SNEPCo supports regional action plan for African helicopter safety

Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo) has expressed support for a proposed Regional Action Plan aimed at enhancing helicopter service safety across Africa. The initiative was a central focus of the Offshore Helicopter Industry Safety Workshop held in Lagos.

The workshop was organized by the Aviation subcommittee of the International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (IOGP) in collaboration with the safety advocacy group HeliOffshore. SNEPCo provided administrative and logistical support for the event, which was sponsored by ExxonMobil.

More than 80 representatives from oil and gas companies, helicopter operators, and Nigerian regulatory bodies, including the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), attended the session. Key outcomes included decisions on Search and Rescue (SAR) initiatives, the implementation of IOGP Report 690 standards, and the creation of formal industry leadership forums.
