Sneyder Pinilla receives one-year judicial extension in UNGRD corruption case

Sneyder Pinilla, the former Deputy Director of Disaster Management for Colombia’s National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD), has been granted a one-year extension of his principle of opportunity.

The decision was issued on August 14 by the 24th Municipal Criminal Court with Guarantee Control Function in Bogotá. This legal mechanism allows the Prosecutor's Office to suspend or interrupt criminal prosecution under specific conditions, typically in exchange for cooperation.

The extension is intended to allow authorities to continue verifying the evidence and information provided by Pinilla as part of his commitment to assist in investigations regarding the corruption scandal within the UNGRD. This period will facilitate the identification of other alleged participants in the corruption network.
