Sněžka mountain hit by hurricane-force winds

Hurricane-force winds have struck Sněžka mountain in the Krkonoše range. Wind speeds at the Anežka post office station reached gusts exceeding 141 km/h, significantly surpassing the hurricane threshold of 117.7 km/h.

Due to the extreme weather, the upper section of the cable car to Sněžka is suspended for the day. The operator, Lanová dráha Sněžka, noted that the lift may only operate if wind speeds remain below 60 km/h. Tourists are advised to exercise caution due to icy terrain and are recommended to use crampons if hiking from Růžová hora.

In the surrounding areas, SkiResort Černá hora - Pec pod Sněžkou has closed several facilities, including the Kabinka children's park, the Monkey Park rope center, and various rental services. While other cable cars in the eastern Krkonoše region remain operational, weather conditions are expected to remain unstable with snow possible above 1100 meters.
