Snohomish County Council considers 0.1% sales tax increase
The Snohomish County Council is preparing to vote on Ordinance 26-030, which proposes a 0.1% "Public Safety Enhancement Sales Tax." County Council member Nate Nehring has announced his intention to vote against the measure.
Nehring cited several concerns regarding the proposal, including the existing tax burden on residents and the fact that the revenue is intended to address the county’s general fund deficit rather than being designated for new public safety services. He also noted that the tax would apply to city residents without providing direct funding to local municipal police departments.
