Snowfall blankets high-altitude regions in Argentina
Heavy snowfall and a cold wave have transformed landscapes across parts of Argentina. In Tafí del Valle, snow accumulated in high-altitude areas above 2,300 meters, including La Ovejería, Las Carreras, El Pinar, and La Bolsa. While the town center remained largely unaffected due to its lower elevation, the white landscape has attracted interest from visitors. Authorities implemented preventive road closures toward Amaicha due to ice on the roadway, and a yellow alert remains in effect for winds.
In the Jujuy Puna region, localities such as La Quiaca and Yavi also experienced intense snowfall and sub-zero temperatures. Extreme conditions were noted in higher sectors like Laguna de Farallón. While there are currently no specific snow alerts, a yellow alert for strong winds is active in the Puna. Residents and travelers are advised to exercise caution on regional routes due to potential ice accumulation and reduced visibility.
