Snowfall recorded in São José dos Ausentes, Rio Grande do Sul

Snowfall was recorded on Sunday afternoon in São José dos Ausentes, located in the Campos de Cima da Serra region. The precipitation occurred around 3:30 p.m. near the Pico and Cânion Monte Negro, at an altitude of 1,403 meters, which is the highest point in Rio Grande do Sul.

The weather event was driven by a cold air mass affecting Southern Brazil. Temperatures in the center of São José dos Ausentes were reported at approximately 3.8°C during the afternoon. Similar snowfall or frozen rain was noted in nearby areas, including Cambará do Sul, Riozinho, and Bom Jardim da Serra, while São Francisco de Paula and Gramado experienced frozen rain.
