Rodopi Mountains receive first seasonal snowfall
The first snowfall of the season has arrived in the Rodopi Mountains, affecting areas such as Hizha Zdravets, Pamporovo, and the Prevalla and Rozhen passes. In Pamporovo, a snow cover of approximately 2 centimeters has formed.
While the snowfall is currently light and melting in some locations, the Mountain Rescue Service has warned that conditions are not suitable for mountain tourism. The Smolyan Regional Road Management reports that while snow is not yet accumulating on road surfaces, wet patches may become slippery due to freezing temperatures, particularly during the early morning and evening.
Drivers traveling through high-altitude areas of the Rodopi Mountains are advised to monitor road conditions closely and exercise increased caution. Weather forecasts indicate that precipitation will gradually decrease toward the end of the day, with temperatures at altitudes above 2500 meters ranging between -4 and -1 degrees Celsius.
