Snowflake expands AI governance and cost management tools

Snowflake is expanding its AI capabilities and governance through new features designed to manage costs and security. The company has introduced the Cortex AI Gateway, which automatically routes AI tasks to smaller, more efficient models for routine functions like classification and data extraction. This routing aims to reduce computing costs and latency while maintaining existing enterprise data controls, ensuring that AI requests adhere to established user permissions.

Complementing these developments, Yuki has launched the Yuki Cortex Control Center. This dashboard provides real-time visibility into Snowflake Cortex AI expenditures by breaking down costs by product, agent, user, role, and model. The tool is designed to solve the ‘black box’ problem of AI spending, where multiple model calls and background workflows can obscure the specific drivers of credit consumption. Users can evaluate spend alongside cost and latency performance in a single view.
