Snowflake launches Cortex AI Gateway for unified AI agent monitoring and cost control
Snowflake announced the Cortex AI Gateway, a centralized control layer that lets enterprises govern how AI agents—both Snowflake‑built (CoWork, CoCo) and third‑party (Claude Code, Cursor)—access data, tools, models and APIs. The gateway offers unified visibility, policy enforcement and token‑usage tracking to curb runaway AI costs.
The solution builds on Snowflake’s 2026 acquisition of Natoma, integrating Natoma’s MCP platform into Snowflake’s cloud. It also adds security integrations with identity and access‑management vendors Aembit, 1Password, Linx Security, Okta, SailPoint and Saviynt, creating a shared trust model for autonomous agents. Mayank Upadhyay, Snowflake’s chief security and trust officer, said the product is meant to enable secure agent interoperability as AI moves from data‑centric to agent‑centric architectures.
