Snowland Ski Resort announces expansion in Fairview Canyon

Snowland Ski Resort, located in Fairview Canyon, Utah, is moving forward with an expansion project following the recent acquisition of a 40-year special use permit from the U.S. Forest Service. The nonprofit Snowland Foundation plans to install the Ridgeline Express, a 2,450-foot surface lift similar to a T-bar or J-bar, which is expected to be operational for the 2026-27 winter season.

The new lift will provide access to 107 acres of skiable terrain and a network of 12 named ski runs. This development is supported in part by a $1.46 million state grant awarded in 2025 through Utah’s outdoor recreation funding programs.

The expansion aims to enhance the resort's capacity while maintaining its identity as a modest, family-oriented destination rather than a large-scale resort. Snowland originally operated from 1967 until 1980, when it closed due to insurance and permitting issues. The area reopened to the public in January 2026 through a partnership involving the Snowland Foundation, Wasatch Academy, and Snow College.
