SNSD party maintains control of Republika Srpska in Bosnia elections
Preliminary election results in Bosnia and Herzegovina indicate that Milorad Dodik’s Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) has maintained its dominance within the Republika Srpska entity. Although Dodik was barred from holding public office and did not run as a candidate himself, he declared victory for his political camp in Banja Luka.
In the race for the country’s tripartite presidency, SNSD-backed candidate Željka Cvijanović is leading significantly for the Serb seat. With over 90% of votes counted, she holds approximately 55%, positioning her for a second term.
For the other two seats in the collective presidency, Denis Bećirović of the Social Democratic Party (SDP-BiH) is leading for the Bosniak position, while Darija Filipović of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ-BiH) is ahead for the Croat position. Based on current results, the new tripartite presidency is expected to consist of Bećirović, Cvijanović, and Filipović.
