Tamaulipas educational and political developments

Various educational and political developments are occurring across Tamaulipas, Mexico. The Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) held its 2026 Research Day at the Tampico Campus, featuring 160 researchers and 32 interactive stands to promote scientific knowledge among students and the community.

In Reynosa, the Universidad Tecnológica de Tamaulipas Norte (UTTN) conducted training sessions for faculty and staff focused on gender equality, human rights, and inclusion to foster a respectful campus environment.

In Ciudad Victoria, Arnulfo Rodríguez Treviño, general secretary of SNTE Section 30, stated that the teachers' union will remain politically independent and will not serve as an electoral tool for the Morena party, despite maintaining institutional relations with the presidency.

Additionally, Armando Martínez Manríquez, the mayor of Altamira, confirmed he will not seek re-election but intends to remain active in public life. He highlighted significant regional economic growth, including a 5.8 billion peso port modernization project and a 7 billion peso elevated viaduct construction.
