SNTE Section 30 leader rejects political use of teachers
Arnulfo Rodríguez Treviño, general secretary of Section 30 of the National Union of Education Workers (SNTE) in Tamaulipas, has rejected the use of teachers for political or electoral purposes. Speaking in Ciudad Victoria, Rodríguez Treviño emphasized that the union's structure will not be placed at the service of the Morena party or any other political organization.
While acknowledging the institutional relationship with President Claudia Sheinbaum, Rodríguez Treviño clarified that support for her role as President of Mexico does not equate to political endorsement of her party. He stated that the union's priority remains the defense of public education and labor rights, asserting that the votes of educators “are not for sale.”
The union leader maintained that the organization will remain independent of partisan negotiations, refusing to trade political support for positions or benefits. He noted that the union has historically maintained institutional relations with sitting presidents while upholding democratic processes.
