Novorizontino takes Série B lead after Atlético-GO and Vila Nova losses
Novorizontino has claimed the top spot in the Brazilian Série B standings following a 1-0 victory over Atlético-GO at the Antônio Accioly stadium. The decisive goal was scored by defender Eduardo Brock via a free kick in the second half. This win, combined with Vila Nova’s defeat, moves Novorizontino to 64 points, two ahead of the previous leaders.
Vila Nova lost 3-2 to São Bernardo in a dramatic match at the Estádio 1º de Maio. Despite leading twice through goals from Janderson and Everton Galdino, Vila Nova played the final stages with ten men following the red card of Hayner. São Bernardo secured the comeback victory with goals in stoppage time from Rodrigo Ferreira and Dudu Miraíma.
The results have significant implications for the promotion race. Atlético-GO fell to seventh place, dropping out of the G-6 zone with only three rounds remaining. Meanwhile, Vila Nova remains in second place but faces increased pressure as they head into a direct confrontation against Juventude in the upcoming round.
