São Bernardo FC appoints Vinícius Bergantin as new head coach

São Bernardo Futebol Clube announced the dismissal of Ricardo Catalá after a winless run of eight matches in Brazil's Série B, leaving the team in 12th place with 27 points. The club thanked Catalá for his past achievements, including two historic promotions, and said the separation was by mutual agreement.

The same day the club confirmed the hiring of Vinícius Bergantin, a former Avaí and Cruzeiro assistant who previously led the Leão da Ilha to a top‑four finish in the second division. Bergantin was introduced to the squad and will begin preparations ahead of the team's next league fixture on 7 August against Operário‑PR.

Bergantin's résumé includes successful stints at Avaí, Ituano, Ferroviária and a brief spell as Tite’s assistant at Flamengo. He returns to Série B management after a period away from head‑coaching duties.
