São Brás de Alportel’s Beer Run forces runners to drink a beer each lap

The Free Challenge Associação Desportiva e Sócio‑Cultural is hosting the second edition of the Beer Run on 15 August in São Brás de Alportel, Portugal. The night‑time race starts at 20:30 in the Parque das Amendoeiras and consists of four 402‑metre laps (a total of one mile). Before each lap participants must finish a 33‑centilitre beer, totalling four beers per competitor.

The event is open to adults aged 18 and over and can be entered individually or as a relay team of four. A non‑alcoholic beer option is available but does not count toward classification or prize eligibility. Organisers provide a bib, technical shirt and sponsor‑provided gifts, along with medical assistance and insurance. Registrations close on 10 August via an online form, with bib collection and kit distribution occurring on race day between 15:00 and 19:00.

The Beer Run is supported by the São Brás de Alportel municipal council and local sponsors including Cerveja Marafada, GJB and others, aiming to blend physical challenge with social fun.
