São Caetano do Sul reports lower crime rates after first year of Smart Sanca

São Caetano do Sul has reported a significant decrease in crime rates following the first full year of operation of Smart Sanca, the city's Intelligence, Security, and Emergencies Center. Comparing the period from July 2025 to July 2026 against the year prior to the system's implementation, the municipality recorded a 100% reduction in intentional homicide cases, maintaining zero occurrences since April 2025.

Other notable reductions include a 68.7% drop in vehicle robberies, with zero incidents recorded in six of the first twelve months. Cargo theft decreased by 60%, vehicle theft fell by 36.9%, and robberies of other goods declined by 21.3%.

Smart Sanca coordinator Cesar Wendel emphasized that the results stem from the integration of technology with field operations. The system provides video monitoring and intelligence data shared among the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM), Military Police, and Civil Police to ensure rapid response to alerts.
