Discord reports low risk of adolescent suicide in transparency report

Discord has released its first transparency report to comply with the requirements of the Digital Statute of the Child and Adolescent (ECA Digital). In the report, which covers data from January to June, the platform classified the risk of suicide and self-harm among adolescents as low.

This assessment follows the death of a 13-year-old girl in July, who reportedly committed suicide after being induced by other teenagers in a live broadcast forum on the platform. This incident led the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) to issue a preventive suspension of Discord's broadcasts and equivalent features in Brazil due to failures in preventing serious violations against minors.

The report includes data on the number of reports received and users banned in Brazil for violating app guidelines. While Discord maintains a low risk for issues such as human trafficking and violent extremism, it classified risks related to harassment, bullying, and threats of leaking private information as moderate.
