São Gonçalo do Rio Abaixo launches economic diversification initiatives
São Gonçalo do Rio Abaixo has launched a series of initiatives aimed at diversifying its economy and reducing its reliance on the mining sector. During the ‘Prospera+ Novas Áreas, Novas Oportunidades’ event, the municipal government announced new investments and infrastructure projects designed to attract businesses and generate employment.
Key developments include the creation of the Agência de Desenvolvimento Econômico, Social e Territorial Prospera, structured as an autonomous social service to ensure long-term continuity of economic policies. The municipality also announced the implementation of a Business Acceleration Center and the expansion of Industrial District III along the BR-381 highway. Ideal Pan Alimentos has been identified as the first industry to arrive in the new district.
Municipal Economic Development Secretary Gabriel Quintão stated that the strategy extends beyond providing land, focusing instead on a comprehensive approach that includes infrastructure, professional qualification, credit access, and legal security to foster a robust business environment.
