São Gonçalo passes early‑childhood, environmental and budget bills; elects disability council members

During the 11th ordinary meeting, the São Gonçalo do Rio Abaixo City Council approved four municipal bills: a law updating temporary hiring criteria, a budget directive for the 2027 annual budget, a program to protect rural water springs, and a subsidy of R$600 per month for council employees with children under two. The measures were passed with majority votes ranging from unanimous to eight in favor.

Separately, the municipality held elections for the Municipal Council for Persons with Disabilities (COPEDE). Four non‑profit organizations each nominated a titular and a substitute member, covering visual, auditory, physical and intellectual disabilities, to serve a 2026‑2028 term and monitor rights and public policies for people with disabilities.
