São José da Laje and Caicó host major local running events

On Sunday, São José da Laje in Alagoas held the third edition of its Corrida da Emancipação, celebrating the city’s 140th anniversary. About 1,200 participants ran 5‑km and 10‑km courses, a kids race and other leisure activities. Mayor Angela Vanessa and other municipal officials attended, and athletes such as Thalita Vieira from Canhotinho (PE) earned podium finishes.

In the same weekend, Caicó in Rio Grande do Norte staged the 28th Corrida de Sant’Ana, drawing more than 2,000 athletes from the region. Mayor Dr. Tadeu and Youth, Sports and Leisure Secretary José Maria de Queiroz praised the event’s organization and its role in promoting health and local tradition. The race was supported by the municipal government, the local cultural association and Caixa Econômica Federal.
