São José de Ribamar suspends municipal teaching exams

The judiciary has suspended all stages of three public civil service exams in São José de Ribamar, Maranhão, following allegations of irregularities. The suspension, ordered by Judge Douglas de Melo Martins, covers all processes including title evaluations, physical aptitude tests, and appointments for the 2026 contests organized by the Instituto Social da Cidadania Juscelino Kubitschek.

The Maranhão State Public Ministry raised concerns regarding the integrity of the exams, citing issues such as unsealed answer sheets, printed markings over correct alternatives, and poor control over the distribution of question booklets. An investigation revealed atypical statistical patterns, including a high concentration of successful candidates from the neighboring municipality of Itapecuru-Mirim, including an ex-vice-mayor with a perfect score.

A technical report from the organizing institute also noted disproportionately high scores and identical answer sheets among candidates competing for the same positions. The suspension is preventive and will remain in effect until the legal proceedings are concluded.
