João Rock 2026 festival draws 65,000 visitors to Ribeirão Preto
The João Rock festival returned on 1 August 2026 to the Parque Permanente de Exposições in Ribeirão Preto, attracting more than 65,000 attendees. The three‑day event featured a line‑up that included CPM 22, Os Paralamas do Sucesso, Raimundos, Detonautas, Nação Zumbi, Lagum, BaianaSystem, Criolo, Djonga, Marina Sena, Ana Carolina, Alceu Valença, Zé Ramalho, Armandinho, Rachel Reis, Luedji Luna and an acoustic Charlie Brown Jr. show. Ticket sales were exhausted before the start, and local hotels reported high occupancy.
Free rock celebrations were also staged in several Brazilian cities. RioMar Kennedy in Fortaleza hosted a two‑day "Vibe Rock" program on 10‑11 July, offering free performances by QR CODE, SK85 and Conexão Urbana, featuring tributes to Charlie Brown Jr. and Legião Urbana. Botucatu’s Avenida do Fórum held the "Fim de Semana Mundial do Rock" from 10‑12 July, presenting about 20 bands including the punk icons Cólera and Ratos de Porão. Rio de Janeiro’s Quinta da Boa Vista offered the Rock 80 Festival on 11‑12 July, a free event with ten bands, a live World Cup broadcast and a food‑drive.
Other cultural programmes ran across the country. The 31st International Winter Festival in Domingos Martins (Espírito Santo) offered more than 70 free concerts and workshops between 10‑19 July. Apucarana’s Winter Festival continued through 1 August with cinema, theater, rock shows and a closing concert by the OSUEL orchestra. Pirenópolis (Goiás) launched the "Festival Retomada" theatre series from 16‑31 July, staging six productions by local groups. The Saga Jazz Festival took place on 15 August in Pirenópolis’s Casarão Serra do Ouro, featuring jazz, rock‑fusion and electro‑acoustic acts.
