São José initiates contract termination with Select health insurance provider

The City Hall of São José has initiated the process to rescind its contract with Select Operadora de Plano de Saúde following months of service failures. The decision comes after numerous clinics and health institutions in the Greater Florianópolis region began rejecting the plan due to a lack of payments from the operator.

Municipal workers, represented by the Sintram/SJ union, held a public protest to demand solutions for the crisis. The union reported that vulnerable groups, including the elderly, pregnant women, and oncology patients, have faced significant difficulties accessing medical services. There are also concerns regarding the continuity of care for hospitalized patients and those with chronic illnesses.

In response to the situation, the municipal administration stated that a new operator will be brought in to assume coverage as soon as the current contract ends. The goal is to ensure uninterrupted assistance for the approximately 7,290 beneficiaries, which include civil servants and their dependents.
