São José opens public consultation for new transport model

The City Hall of São José has launched an online public consultation to discuss a new model for the municipality’s urban collective transport concession. The consultation, which remains open until September 19, aims to gather suggestions and criticisms regarding the preliminary modeling for the future bidding process.

Based on studies conducted by the Foundation for Socioeconomic Studies and Research (Fepese) with technical support from LabTrans/UFSC, the proposal includes expanding the current system. While the network presently operates seven lines with 23 buses, the preliminary model suggests increasing this to 17 lines and 30 vehicles. The plan includes the creation of new express and circular services, as well as strategic integration points. The studies cover various aspects, including economic-financial assessments and the terms of reference for the upcoming bidding process.
