São Luís Mayor Esmênia Miranda dismisses Social Assistance Secretary

Mayor Esmênia Miranda has dismissed Tâmara Araújo da Silva from her position as the head of the Municipal Secretariat of Social Assistance (SEMCAS) in São Luís. The dismissal follows an incident where the secretary released municipal employees to participate in a category demonstration on the same day as a campaign event for President Lula in the city.

In addition to the secretary, the mayor exonerated Deputy Secretary José de Deus Dutra Júnior and other cabinet members. Nubervane Silva Moares has been appointed to temporarily lead the department, while Alenildes da Silva has been named deputy secretary.

The decision comes amid administrative complaints regarding the management of SEMCAS, including interventions by the Public Ministry and reports of closures at CRAS centers and various shelter facilities.
