São Miguel dos Milagres community debates Praia do Toque access

Residents, fishermen, and local workers in São Miguel dos Milagres, Alagoas, met with the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) to discuss access routes to Praia do Toque. During a public hearing at the Municipal Chamber, the community advocated for the revitalization of the traditional “Acesso B” for local use and the creation of a well-structured main passage for tourists.

The community categorically rejected a proposal from the municipality and local entrepreneurs to open “Acesso D,” citing potential environmental risks to nearby mangrove areas and unresolved land ownership disputes.

Federal Prosecutor Lucas Horta stated that hearing from those who live and work in the region is essential to building a functional solution. The MPF intends to convene representatives from the municipality and local entrepreneurs to draft a Conduct Adjustment Agreement (TAC) to define responsibilities, deadlines, and funding for necessary works. If a consensus is not reached, the MPF may pursue judicial action.
