São Paulo advances state book and library policies

The São Paulo State Plan for Books, Reading, Literature and Libraries (PELLLB-SP) is hosting its 2nd Formative Meeting. This initiative aims to build collective public policy to strengthen the book industry, reading habits, and library systems throughout the state. The meeting serves to present progress on the plan, discuss the progress of Bill No. 529/2023, and encourage social participation among public managers, educators, librarians, and writers.

Additionally, BibliON, the digital library of the State of São Paulo, is offering a free online course titled ‘From Literature to Cinema: How Books Become Films’. Taught by critic Marcelo Lyra, the course explores the technical and narrative transitions from written works to audiovisual media, analyzing famous adaptations such as ‘The Godfather’ and ‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets’.
