São Paulo announces 4,500 teacher and 20 guard positions in new public sector contests

The São Paulo municipal education department (SME) has been authorized to hold a new contest for 4,500 teaching positions. The vacancies are split between 3,000 early‑childhood and elementary I roles and 1,500 elementary II and high‑school posts. Candidates must hold a relevant teaching licence and will be assessed through a practical test, psychological evaluation and a six‑month training course; the use of the National Teacher Exam (PND) or a traditional objective exam has not yet been confirmed. Salaries range from R$ 2,426.02 to R$ 4,867.77, depending on workload and grades. The contest was approved by Mayor Ricardo Nunes on 21 July and awaits the publication of the official edital.

Separately, the municipality of Itupeva in São Paulo state published an edital for a municipal guard (GCM) contest offering 20 positions. Applicants must have completed secondary education, hold a driver’s licence, be aged 18‑34 and meet height requirements. The initial salary is R$ 4,452.12 plus a 40% risk allowance, food, transport and other benefits. Registration runs from 27 July to 16 August, with exams scheduled for 27 September. The selecting body is the IDCAP testing institute, and candidates will undergo objective and essay tests, physical, psychological, toxicology and other evaluations before a training course.
