Fernando Sastre trial: Porsche driver admits alcohol consumption
During the second day of his trial in São Paulo, businessman Fernando Sastre de Andrade Filho admitted to consuming alcohol before driving the Porsche 911 involved in a fatal March 2024 accident. The collision, which occurred at high speed on Avenida Salim Farah Maluf, resulted in the death of app driver Ornaldo da Silva Viana and serious injuries to a passenger.
Sastre expressed regret and apologized to the victims, claiming he did not intend to cause an accident. His defense team presented a technical report alleging the vehicle had 128 fault codes and six specific malfunctions that could have affected its response time.
A military police officer, Daisy Romão, testified that she felt deceived by Sastre and his mother, who insisted he be released to seek medical attention for a nosebleed. The officer noted she lacked a breathalyzer at the time. Both Romão and fellow officer Thiago Silva Batista face charges in Military Justice for failing to follow proper procedures and not preserving the accident scene.
