São Paulo candidates secure election registrations
Several political candidates in São Paulo are finalizing their registrations for upcoming elections. Herivelto Vela, a metalworker from Pindamonhangaba, has had his candidacy for federal deputy approved by the PSB for the 2026 elections. Vela, who previously served as a city councilor and ran for mayor, declared total assets of R$ 457,334.37.
In a separate development, Santo André city councilor Bahia do Lava Rápido (PSDB) has successfully registered his candidacy for state deputy with the TRE-SP. He received a new ballot number after his previous number was found to be duplicated with another candidate. Despite this registration, he faces internal opposition from the PSDB leadership, which argues his candidacy conflicts with federation guidelines regarding candidates in the same electoral domicile as incumbents.
