São Paulo Civil Defense runs fire‑safety simulation in Atibaia and regional training in Tremembé

The Civil Defense of Atibaia conducted an integrated emergency drill on 27 April at the city’s airport. The exercise simulated a large residential fire, involving the Fire Department, SAMU, Municipal Guard, Traffic Department and social services. Participants practiced fire suppression, rescue, pre‑hospital care, traffic control and post‑incident structural assessment, while the public observed the operation to learn about safety protocols.

On 28 April, the state Civil Defense held a training session in Tremembé for municipal teams from 11 municipalities in the Vale do Paraíba and Serra da Mantiqueira. The program combined classroom instruction and practical field work on wildfire prevention, combat techniques and response during drought conditions. Organisers aim to reduce illegal burns, protect vegetation, lower emissions and improve rapid emergency response across the region.
