São Paulo clinches individual and team titles at Brazilian Cadet Judo Championships

The Brazilian Cadet Judo Championships took place from 26 to 28 June 2026 at the SESI gym in Simões Filho, Bahia. More than 440 athletes from 24 state federations competed in the U‑18 category, with the event serving as the final qualifier for the World Championships in Ecuador in August.

São Paulo emerged as the overall champion, winning both the individual standings and the mixed‑team competition, defeating Santa Catarina 5‑3 in the team final. The state also topped the medal table, while Rio de Janeiro and Rio Grande do Sul placed second and third respectively. Individual gold medals were claimed by athletes from several states, including Gabriela Santos (Rio de Janeiro) in the –57 kg female division and Nicolás Almeida (São Paulo) in the –73 kg male division.

The tournament was free to the public, supported by the Bahia state sports authority, and all bouts were streamed live on CBJ TV.
