São Paulo coastal towns host water‑sport festivals in August 2026
The municipality of Caraguatatuba will hold the Aloha Spirit festival from 14 to 16 August 2026 on Praia do Centro. The three‑day event features Hawaiian canoe (Va’a), stand‑up paddle, paddleboard, open‑water swimming, beach tennis and the Aloha Spirit Run, a six‑kilometre road race with a kids’ version. Organisers expect about 1.3 thousand athletes and 4.2 thousand visitors, with participants from 14 Brazilian states and six countries.
On 16 August 2026, São Sebastião will host a stage of the Circuito Paulista de Travessias Aquáticas at Praia de Bora Bora. The water‑marathon offers 500‑metre, 1‑kilometre and 3‑kilometre courses and is expected to attract 150‑200 athletes, including members of the São Paulo Fire Department, police and other regional teams. The event is supported by the municipal Secretaria de Esportes and includes safety vessels and medical support. Both festivals aim to boost sports tourism in the São Paulo coastal region.
