São Paulo councilor Senival Moura requests PT exit after arrest linked to PCC

Councilor Senival Moura (PT) was arrested on 25 June 2026 during the police operation “Última Parada”, accused of participating in a money‑laundering scheme for the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) through the municipal bus company Transunião. Investigators say Moura exercised “factual control” of the firm, which increased its capital from R$ 100 k to over R$ 50 million and was used to move illicit funds, including cash payments of at least R$ 250 k and a total of about R$ 4.3 million linked to the scheme. The probe also ties him to the 2020 murder of former Transunião president Adauto Soares Jorge, alleged retaliation by the gang. After the arrest, Moura filed a request to leave the Workers’ Party, stating he needed to devote himself to his defence and avoid further associating the party with the case. The PT confirmed receipt of the request and forwarded the matter to its ethics commission. Moura, who serves as first‑secretary of the São Paulo City Council and chairs the Transport Commission, denies any wrongdoing. The mayor confirmed that Transunião’s bus service continues without interruption. Courts have ordered the seizure of assets worth up to R$ 194 million, including vehicles, real estate and bank accounts.
