Brazilian candidates disclose varying assets for 2026 elections

Candidates for the 2026 Brazilian elections have submitted their asset declarations to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), revealing a wide range of financial statuses.

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva declared assets totaling approximately R$ 4.7 million, a decrease of about R$ 2.6 million compared to his 2022 declaration. His assets include real estate in São Bernardo do Campo and private pension plans.

Other notable declarations include Silvia Abravanel, who reported assets of over R$ 47.5 million, including significant financial applications and real estate. Val Marchiori initially declared nearly R$ 49 million, but later corrected the amount to R$ 1.4 million, citing a typographical error regarding a property value.

Nikolas Ferreira reported a significant increase in wealth, with assets rising from R$ 36,820 in 2022 to R$ 3.8 million in 2026, largely driven by a financed property. Jair Renan Bolsonaro, son of the former president, declared R$ 187,366.28, representing a 345% increase from his previous declaration. Erika Hilton reported assets of R$ 15,975.73, a slight decrease from her 2022 filing.
