São Paulo launches Adamantina interchange construction and delays electronic toll on Anchieta‑Imigrantes
Construction of a new interchange on the SP-294 highway at km 592 in Adamantina began on Saturday. The work, carried out by Eixo SP Concessionária de Rodovias, will close both lanes of the road segment, with traffic diverted to existing side lanes and reinforced signage installed. The project is part of the SP-294 duplication plan and is slated for completion in December 2024.
The São Paulo state government’s electronic toll system, Siga Fácil, for the Anchieta‑Imigrantes corridor was originally set to start on 1 August. After operational tests identified the need to reposition a toll‑reading pórtico from km 29 to km 38 to preserve local traffic, the launch was postponed and a new date will be announced later. When operational, the system will replace traditional toll plazas with electronic portals, allowing vehicles to pass at speed (free‑flow). The toll of R$ 40.60 per trip will be split into R$ 20.30 for the descent and R$ 20.30 for the ascent. The change is expected to eliminate queues, reduce fuel consumption and improve logistics for cargo, especially for transport to the Port of Santos.
