São Paulo Electoral Court orders removal of video portraying Governor Tarcísio de Freitas as Chucky

The Regional Electoral Court of São Paulo (TRE‑SP) granted an injunction ordering the removal of an online video that depicts Governor Tarcísio de Freitas as the horror‑film character Chucky. The video, posted on Instagram by State Deputy Emídio de Souza (PT), was challenged by the Republicanos party, which argued that the content constitutes negative electoral propaganda and includes unlabelled synthetic or artificial‑intelligence‑generated material.

Judge Domitila Manssur cited the video’s association of the governor with violence, femicide and destruction, deeming it beyond permissible political criticism. The PT defended the piece as satire without intent to mislead voters. Tarcísio’s pre‑campaign team welcomed the ruling, stating that electoral debate should focus on ideas and pledging further legal action against similar attacks.
