São Paulo utilities and road users face double price hikes

The National Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel) approved a 10.18% annual electricity tariff increase for consumers in São Paulo state, effective Saturday, 4 July. The hike raises the average residential rate by 8.97% and the industrial/high‑tension rate by 15%, impacting 24 municipalities and roughly 8.9 million consumer units.

Governor Tarcísio de Freitas authorized a 4.72% increase in toll fees on more than 30 state‑conceded highways, also effective early July. The Anchieta‑Imigrantes corridor now costs R$ 40.60, making it the country's most expensive toll. Other routes saw similar adjustments, with the Rodovia dos Tamoios receiving a slightly higher 5.08% rise. The changes affect drivers across the state’s major corridors.
