São Paulo elects new state deputies focused on social rights

New political figures have emerged in the São Paulo state legislature following recent elections. Sofia Favero (PSol) was elected as a state deputy, receiving 407,000 votes. As the second transgender woman elected to the São Paulo Legislative Assembly, Favero intends to focus her mandate on women's safety, support for university students, and LGBTQ+ population care. Her proposed projects include paid leave for women victims of domestic violence and tax reductions for university restaurant meals.

Additionally, Viviane Alves has secured a position as a substitute state deputy for São Paulo. An entrepreneur and CEO, Alves has pledged to prioritize combating femicide, implementing stricter laws for aggressors, and expanding support for victims of physical and emotional violence. She also aims to promote female professional qualification to facilitate women's reintegration into the labor market.
