São Paulo environmental officials and politicians face legal and financial scrutiny
Legal and administrative issues involving environmental compensation and fines have surfaced in the São Paulo region.

Separately, the City of São Paulo reportedly incurred a loss of R$ 426,000 due to a calculation error regarding environmental fines owed by former councilman Milton Leite. While the original fines totaled millions, a failure to apply mandatory monetary correction during the settlement process resulted in a significant reduction in the amount paid. The city administration has stated that the collection of the corrected amount prescribed.
