São Paulo expands Centro TEA Paulista initiatives
The state of São Paulo is advancing its support for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) through infrastructure development and professional training. Governor Tarcísio de Freitas has signed the transfer of land in Araçatuba, located at the site of the former Hospital Modelo, to the Secretariat for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. This site will host a new unit of the Centro TEA Paulista. The Companhia de Desenvolvimento Habitacional e Urbano (CDHU) is responsible for the architectural project, which will be followed by a bidding process for construction.
In addition to infrastructure, the Centro TEA Paulista recently conducted training for over 450 military police officers during the State Meeting of Instructors of the Drug and Violence Resistance Educational Program (PROERD). The training focused on autism characteristics, sensory sensitivities, and communication strategies to ensure more respectful and accessible interactions between law enforcement and autistic individuals.
