São Paulo authorizes new police recruitments for 4,000 soldier positions

The Government of São Paulo issued a decree authorising two new public contests to recruit a total of 4,000 soldier‑candidates (aluno‑soldado) for the Polícia Militar. The vacancies will be split into two separate selections, each offering 2,000 places, with successful candidates to be appointed in May and November 2028.

The announcement follows ongoing recruitment efforts: a current contest for 2,000 soldier slots, open until 21 August, with an initial salary of R$ 5,482.51. Exams will be held in 51 municipalities (37 in São Paulo state and 14 in other regions). The selection process includes an objective exam, physical‑aptitude test, psychological assessment, social investigation and document analysis. A separate contest for 200 officer‑cadet positions is also open, with applications closing 15 July.

These authorisations are part of a broader state plan to strengthen public security by increasing the police force’s numbers and capabilities.
