São Paulo faces unusual cold and rain through mid-June

Cold temperatures and rain are persisting across the state of São Paulo, an atypical pattern for June. The state’s civil defense warns that precipitation will continue at least until Sunday 14, with the heaviest showers expected that day, and will extend into Monday 15 in the capital. Temperatures will stay mild during the day but feel colder at night, especially in higher‑altitude areas.

Meteorologists attribute the unusual weather to a series of cold fronts and extratropical cyclones moving through the South, Southeast and Central‑West regions of Brazil. These systems are expected to bring rain that could exceed the normal June averages in parts of the interior, and further fronts are forecast between 17 and 19 June, potentially bringing additional cold air into the country.
