São Paulo FC Ethics Commission recommends expelling Júlio Casares
The Ethics Commission of São Paulo FC has unanimously recommended the expulsion of former president Júlio Casares from the club's membership. The commission's report also suggests that Casares must reimburse the club for funds identified as being used for personal expenses.
Casares, who served as president from 2021 until his resignation in January 2026, faces accusations of reckless management. The investigation highlights R$ 7 million in cash withdrawals and approximately R$ 1 million in corporate card expenditures. The commission's findings allege that club resources were used for luxury goods, restaurants, beauty salons, medical expenses, and pet shops. While Casares maintains that the funds were used for football-related costs, such as athlete bonuses, the matter is currently under investigation by a task force from the Civil Police and the Public Ministry.
The final decision regarding his expulsion will be voted on by the Deliberative Council.
