São Paulo FC faces FIFA transfer ban and potential point deduction
São Paulo FC is facing a FIFA-imposed transfer ban and the potential loss of up to six points in the Campeonato Brasileiro due to an unpaid debt of approximately R$ 1.8 million (US$ 300,000) owed to the agents of midfielder Giuliano Galoppo.
To resolve the situation, the club must pay a penalty fee by October 30 and settle the full debt with the agents by early December. If the deadline is missed, the sanctions could escalate to include point deductions or even relegation. The club's management has decided to prioritize paying outstanding player salaries and image rights—some of which are several months overdue—before addressing the agent's debt.
To fund these payments, the administration is utilizing resources from a R$ 140 million contract anticipation with Ticketmaster. The club is currently in 11th place, and a six-point deduction could drop them to 16th position, near the relegation zone.
