São Paulo FC faces lawsuit from New Honest over Unimed sponsorship
The brokerage firm New Honest has filed a lawsuit against São Paulo FC, seeking R$ 7.5 million in commissions related to the club's sponsorship deal with Unimed. The company claims its mediation was essential to the negotiations, which involve annual payments of R$ 15 million through 2028.
Suspicion regarding the brokerage arose during a São Paulo Board of Directors meeting in April. Concerns were raised about New Honest's structure, noting the company was headquartered at the Morumbis stadium and had a social capital of only R$ 1,000. Consequently, the club removed the firm from the agreement and restructured its contracts without the previously agreed commission.
The legal dispute contributed to the departure of former marketing director Eduardo Toni, who maintained that New Honest acted with authorization. While a judge initially rejected New Honest's request and archived the case due to procedural timing, the company is currently appealing the decision.
