São Paulo FC faces potential transfer ban over Novorizontino debt
São Paulo FC faces a potential transfer ban following a ruling by the National Agency for Regulation and Sustainability of Football (ANRESF), the financial fair play body of the CBF. The agency ruled in favor of Novorizontino regarding an unpaid debt related to the transfer of player Djhordney.
The debt, totaling approximately R$ 1 million plus interest and penalties, stems from the acquisition of the midfielder. ANRESF has ordered São Paulo to settle the full amount within 45 days. Failure to comply will result in a ban on registering new players, including those for youth categories.
To mitigate financial pressure and avoid further sanctions, São Paulo's management is exploring revenue-generating strategies. These include negotiating an advance of approximately R$ 140 million from Ticketmaster for ticketing and fan program management, as well as seeking new naming rights agreements for the Morumbi stadium.
