São Paulo FC opposition slate launches leadership campaign

The opposition slate ‘São Paulo de Volta’ has officially launched its campaign for the leadership of São Paulo Futebol Clube. Lawyer Marcelo Portugal Gouvêa has announced his candidacy for the club presidency, stating his goal is to improve governance and internal control systems.

Joining the opposition ticket are Eduardo Alfano Vieira, running for vice-presidency, and Fábio Mariz, who is campaigning for the presidency of the Deliberative Council. Mariz has emphasized the need for the Council to act as an independent and autonomous body capable of strictly overseeing the club's board of directors and reviewing contracts before they are executed.

Mariz also proposed a methodical statutory reform to address the club's needs. The opposition movement, which includes groups such as Salve o Tricolor Paulista, Novo São Paulo, and Força São Paulo, seeks to implement significant changes to the club's current management structure.
