Cruzeiro and São Paulo face injury concerns ahead of Brasileirão clash
Cruzeiro and São Paulo face significant roster challenges ahead of their Campeonato Brasileiro matchup at the Mineirão.
Cruzeiro defender Fabrício Bruno is expected to miss the game due to right calf pain. While medical staff ruled out a serious injury, he has begun physiotherapy to prevent further muscle aggravation. Meanwhile, attacker Kaio Jorge continues to be a key figure for the club, having recorded seven goals and one assist in 21 Serie A matches this season.
São Paulo enters the match with an expanding injury list. Key players Rafael (lower back), Danielzinho (ankle), Luciano (adductor), and Iago (adductor) are all sidelined. The club is also managing long-term absences including Domingos Duarte and Nicolas. Despite these losses, coach Dorival Júnior expects the return of Calleri from suspension, along with Tetê, Dhjordney, and Felisberto following their participation with the Brazil U-20 national team.
In other news, Cruzeiro's Marília finished as the top scorer of the 2026 Brasileirão Feminino A1, scoring 11 goals in 18 matches, earning her a call-up to the Brazilian women's national team.
