São Paulo FC stadium negotiations for Pacaembu stalled

Negotiations for São Paulo FC to host matches at Pacaembu Stadium in 2027 have stalled, with a final decision likely being deferred to the club’s next administration. The primary impasse involves the club’s requirement for a natural grass pitch, which conflicts with the current stadium management's event schedule and the technical challenges of replacing the existing synthetic turf.

The club is seeking alternative venues because the heavy schedule of concerts and events at Morumbis reduces the stadium's availability for football matches. For example, the club has already been forced to move several games away from its home ground this year.
